About Shaykh Mufti Wajid Iqbal
Shaykh Mufti Wajid Iqbal descends from a family of scholars. Most notably, his mother’s uncle - the honourable Shaykh Mufti Abdul Hakim (Allah have Mercy upon him) - was the Grand Mufti of Kashmir. Since beginning his Islamic studies at the age of 14, Shaykh Wajid has not missed a single class of Sacred Knowledge with his teachers: Shaykh Mufti Faazal al-Bandyalvi and Shaykh Mufti Muhammad Aslam al-Bandyalvi (Allah preserve and protect them both).
Under the traditional tutelage of Mufti Faazal and Mufti Aslam, Shaykh Wajid has completed all aspects of the highly revered ‘Dars-E-Nizami’ curriculum and continues to study further advanced Islamic sciences with them. At the age of 27, he was authorised in iftah/fatwa by Mufti Muhammad Aslam al-Bandyalvi, Mufti Fazil Naqshbandi and in 2023 by Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi. Shaykh Mufti Wajid Iqbal is also a student of the great ‘arif-billah, Sayyid Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi (Allah preserve and protect him), and is the head principal, co-founder, and director of Essential Islam; an independent non-profit organisation who are committed to propagating the way of the Ahl al-Sunnah through the dissemination of authentic, traditional Islamic knowledge.
He is currently the Head principal at the Jamiyat Tabligh-ul-Islam Victor Street Masjid; where he holds regular evening and weekend classes and courses. He is also the Khathib at Jamiyat Tabligh-ul-Islam Bradford Central Mosque for Jumu’ah Prayers and also leads the weekly dhikr gatherings at Zawiyah Al-Shifa.
